26 April resurrectionok, it has been a while, not sure why I haven't been blogging, will not dwell to much on it.
The reason for the resurrection is due to travels being undertaken by a friend, M.
maintaining this blog will give her a window into what is going on back here, which is complete honesty is quite little.
Went to a play with D,A and L last night in Andrews Lane , the play was The Stuff of Myth, I am hoping D or A will explain more about it cos I can't remember any of the names.
It was crude but hilarous, wish M had been there, would have made for some interesting discussions afterwards 6 July thinking of buying musicI find myself in unchartered waters, I am starting to form a list in my head of albums I may purchase
now for those who don't know this I don't own any music of my own
now I would not get too excited as I am thinking of buying some very safe stuff but its a start
my list will be added on the side bar 26 June a weekend of firststhis weekend was one of those where you grab life the the scruf and live it.
I drove M and A to Belvedare house (http://www.belvedere-house.ie/) and we took part in a Falconry course which was cool. There is photos here (http://www.flickr.com/photos/12715371@N00/sets/72157594177773535/) taken by the official photographer D.
After that we returned to Dublin to dress up and drove to Wicklow to have dinner in Brooklodge (http://www.brooklodge.com/). Well worth the experience.
Sunday I ate the first raspberries from my own bush.
I drove Mini for the first time, she is so eager in third gear.
So life is good 13 June Billion dollar babeswas watching city channel last night and there was a reference to shopping and Custom House Quays, (chq)which got my attention. In May there was a 'by invitation' sale of designer clothes, shoes , handbags etc in the chq run by a group fronted by the website Billion Dollar Babes ( http://www.billiondollarbabes.co.uk/html/events.html) The next one is planned for November, now I have registered as a user so I will get an invite but am hoping some friends will do likewise so we could go as a group :) 30 May guess what i am going to do in Auguston Friday 18th August I am flying with Ryanair to Bristol airport (unless D is the pilot for the weekend), renting a car and driving, (ok D is driving) to Kemble.
We will be camping there for the weekend.
Why you may ask?
Cos I want to look at planes : )
24 May the button is backthe button "My MSN Space" that was in my MSN messenger, which conveniently linked me to MyEndeavour disappeared a few weeks ago which is my excuse as to why it seemed I had dropped of the face of the earth in regards to blog postings
But it is back so hopefully you will see a vast improvement in the number of my blog entries
19 May Manx is going on holidayDue to the fact that we are going to Galway this weekend we are going to bring Manx and leave him with Tom and co for four weeks.
Here is his reaction to the idea 12 May ground work for the move westYesterday D and I went to an information and recruitment fair for those who wnt to move West
Colin McNicholas recruitment were the primary driver of the event so we spoke to the IT recruiter who had an immediate vacancy he wanted me look at see http://www.irishjobs.ie/jobdesc.asp?id=1966666&JMID=3088&RefPage=Member
So atleast it will make me do up a techie CV 2 May can't teach an old dog.....new tricks, well that is what I thought too. But having recently had an 'old dog' come and visit I had an opportunity to test this theory, maybe I should say urban legend.
The subject, let us call him 'M', is a 17 year old dog, who dislikes being outside by himself. The means he use to use to ensure he was not left outside for any extended lenght of time, was to bark. He could bark consistently for hours, while this has not been proved too often due to the frustration felt by the human witnesses, the most recent occassion saw 'M' bark for two hours before the human witness gave in and let him in. The admitance did coincide with neighbours coming to see what was causing all the noise.
However after the purchase of a barking collar, and the wearing of said collar, the dog no longer barks. Indeed he is particularly quite.
He can sit and stare at said witnesses for hours without moving a muscle to guilt them to opening the door but that is a story for another day
24 April I passedI passed my driving test on Thursday, and I have to say I was and still am surprized
It was not the perfect driving that I had hoped I would demostrate on the day, but I passed.
I took down the 'L' plates immediately, which is strange cos now I feel they offered me some protection or excused.
I don't feel I will ever be a passionate driver, but that is ok, as long as I have D :) 18 April it is a dogs lifemy dad's dog has come on holiday
we (David, Manx and I) travelled from galway yesterday about 2:30.
There was a few barks but once we started driving Manx started licking the windows either side of the back seat and continued to do so for the whole journey, three and a half hours long.
There was a few more barks, particularly when we stopped in Moate for some food and to let him out of the car.
Once in Dublin he was introduced to the back garden which he bored with quickly and barked to be let in.
We tried to ignore this as much as possible, delaying the inevidable, we took it in turns to keep him company in the garden but ultimately he got in.
Getting in was a problem in itself as he seems unable to climb the steps leading into the back door, whether they are too steep for him we have yet to figure out.
So he was coaxed in and shown the quilt on the floor when it is hoped he will sleep.
He was brought out for a 30 minute walk and every time he got up on Monday evening he was put outside for 5 minutes, in case he was stirring for a reason.
Each time he was put out he had to be coaxed down and up the back door steps.
He slept well, no accidents, and was given breakfast and a 30 minute walk at 8:00 this morning.
I put him outside this morning and he persisted in barking, stopping occasionally, but just when you think he may be stopped for go he starts again.
My neighbour came over in her dressing gown to check out what was barking cos his barking was setting her dogs off.
So by 11:00 and two hours of barking I gave in and let him in, where he preceeded to sit quite as a mouse on the couch.
Hope that is where he is when I get home..... 11 April Pilot ProgrammeThe title probably got your attention considering D's obsession, so now that I have it lets proceed.
I have been asked to take part in a pilot programme called "Active" (Accredited Training for Volunteers in Europe) which aims to develop a flexible, relevant training programme for volunteers working with people with disabilities. I am thrilled about this :) I may have bribed my way onto the programme as IBM have recently approved my request for laptop on behave of the NCBI, due to my volunteering for them. But hey, who cares , this is an area I am interested in and will use whatever mechanisms I can to make contacts 10 April how big is your footprintI found this quiz and took it http://www.earthday.net/Footprint/index.asp#
my footprint is 3.8, what is yours 4 April who would come out on topDuckie had become a bit restless again and decided he wanted to see where H worked. H did try and desuade Duckie, arguing that Duckie would be bored. Duckie was not to be stopped and tagged along with H to work. Once at work Duckie hopped out to introduce himself around......
I wonder who would come out on top between the Lion, the Duck and the Cat... 3 April what is for lunchI have taken to bringing my lunch ( and breakie ) to work recently.
I don't do sandwiches so my tubbawear has come in handy to give me some options however I came across this site today and I have been blown away
While I wonder how long it takes to create these lunch boxes I have to admired the effort.
Will have to try harder 29 March new door + new keys = locked inthat about sums up my morning
we have a new front door, with a new key, new lock mechanism and it is one of those mechanisms where you have push the handle up , down, turn around and touch your toes* before you can open, lock or unlock the door.
*that is how it felt at 8:00 this morning
but hey we have a blue door : ) |
